The cholesterol created by the body is the good cholesterol that has positive uses such as producing cell membranes and hormones. Bad cholesterol, also known as LDL cholesterol, is generally the 25% of cholesterol that comes from the diet.

Generally you can control the levels of LDL cholesterol by maintaining a good diet. That is because LDL cholesterol is only present in certain food types, general fatty foods such as meat, fish and foods containing dairy products. Food of plant origin do not tend to contain LDL cholesterol.
